Heather Gasner

Preschool Director

Miss Heather is the Director of St. Andrew's by the Sea Episcopal Preschool. Heather is born and raised in San Diego! She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development and has worked in the field for the past 30 years as a Teacher, Mentor, Director and NAEYC Validator. Working together with parents and staff, she continually seeks new and creative ways to assure that each child fulfills his/her potential and has their needs met. Heather believes that children learn through play and strives to provide a rich and stimulating environment that promotes development in the whole child including the social, physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual side of each child. She looks forward to meeting and sharing with you our quality enriched preschool program here at St. Andrew’s. Heather has her Site Supervisor Permit in Child Development and has been working at St. Andrew's by-the-Sea Preschool since 2012.

Erin Cabrera

Assistant Director

Miss Erin is the Assistant Director at St. Andrew's by-the-Sea Preschool. Erin is born and raised in Pacific Beach. She loves being a part of the development of the children, particularly through her love for the creative arts. She enjoys providing a positive educational experience full of discovery and fun. She has her AA Degree in Early Child Development and her BA Degree in Early Child Development along with her Site Supervisor Permit. Erin has been a teacher at St. Andrew's by-the-Sea Preschool for 11 years.

Anna Gonzalez

Sea Turtle Classroom Teacher

Miss Anna is the Sea Turtle teacher in the 4 year old classroom. Anna is originally from Italy, loves to work with children, and provides a rich environment for learning and discovery for our four year old class. Anna has her Associate Teacher Permit in Child Development and has been teaching at St. Andrew's by-the-Sea Preschool since 2010.

Nina Sandborn

Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

Miss Nina is the Ocean Explorers teacher in the Pre-K classroom. Nina is originally from the Bay Area in Northern California. She received a Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology in the Fall of 2011 from California State University Sacramento. She has extensive experience working with children including- working in a Reggio inspired preschool, coaching gymnastics and cheerleading, working on the Disney cruise ship and many nanny and babysitting jobs. Nina has a Site Supervisor Permit in Child Development and has been teaching at St. Andrew's by-the-Sea Preschool since 2013.

Michelle Godard Titus

Dolphin Classroom Teacher

Miss Michelle teaches in the 3 year old classroom. Miss Michelle discovered her love for childcare early on when she was 12 years old, by babysitting and volunteering at her Church nursery. Michelle has continued her passion to create a positive and nurturing environment with the hope that she can instill a desire and eagerness to learn. Miss Michelle has over 12 years of experience working with children of all ages. Her experience was through different types of childcare facilities such as Preschools, after school programs and she even taught English in France when she lived abroad there for 3 years. Michelle is so excited to join the St. Andrews team and give excellent love and care to each student.

Eva Maldonado

Sea Horse Classroom Teacher

Miss Eva is the Sea Horse teacher in the 3 year old classroom. Eva grew up in Mexico and moved to San Diego in 1995. She enjoys teaching the children art and music. She has 14 years of experience teaching preschoolers! Eva has her Associate Teacher Permit in Child Development and has been teaching at St. Andrew's by-the-Sea Preschool since 2012.

Debra Savel

Outdoor Otters Classroom Teacher

Miss Debra is our Outdoor Otters teacher and works with all of the children in the preschool on a daily basis. Debra is a native San Diegan and offers a nurturing presence and love of science. She works in the Outdoor classroom and loves the experience of watching children grow in their own unique ways. Debra has her Associate Teacher Permit in Child Development and has been teaching at St. Andrew's by-the-Sea Preschool since 2011.

Patrece Corpening

Starfish Classroom Teacher

Miss Patrece is the Starfish teacher in the 2 year old classroom. Patrece is a Pacific Beach local that has three awesome sons and literally lives down the street. She has experience teaching all age groups and a background in Nursing and Early Child Development. She has taught preschool for many years and considers teaching and nurturing children a great privilege. Patrece has her Associate Teacher Permit and has been teaching at St. Andrew's by-the-Sea Preschool since 2015.

Maria Rodriguez

Jellyfish Classroom Teacher

Miss Maria is the Jellyfish teacher in the 2 year old classroom. Maria is originally from Mexico, but considers San Diego her home. She has received an Associate of Arts in Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies (with an Emphasis in Education). She has worked with, tutored, assisted, volunteered and observed classrooms ranging from infants to teenagers since 2011.  She hopes to have the opportunity to work with children of all ages throughout her life, from preschool to high school. Teaching is where her passion lies, because she knows that’s what will make her happy all throughout her career. 2018 will be her first year teaching at St. Andrew’s by-the-Sea Preschool and she couldn’t be more excited.

Katie Griffith

Substitute Teacher

Miss Katie is our amazing Substitute Teacher. She worked at KinderCare as a Pre-K teacher for 2 years and at St. Andrew’s by-the-Sea Preschool as a 3’s teacher for 2 years. She took some time off to stay home with both of her children but now that they are starting school she has been blessed with the opportunity to join St. Andrew’s again as a substitute teacher! Katie has 18 ECE units and is continuing her education in Child Development.

Hilary Spencer

Preschool Teacher

Miss Hilary loves working with young children and families. She has been doing so for more than 30 years. She has a wealth of experience from working in both the United States, and the UK, where she was born and raised. In England she organized and ran a crèche for keep fit moms, worked for the Racial Equality Council, helping to keep children in school, and volunteered at her local lower (elementary) school, and play group (pre-school). Hilary moved to the Evanston, IL as an Au pair, and went on to work in a Montessori program, and eventually as a lead teacher and Director of Camp/Afterschool programs, at a play based NAEYC accredited family center for 10 years, before moving to sunny San Diego. Hilary’s approach to teaching infuses many influences: life experience, Montessori, Reggio, Piagét, Howard Gardner (Multiple Intelligence theory), and many others. Hilary believes in hands on, play based, learning that builds upon experiences that are relevant and meaningful to each individual child.

Hilary’s educational background includes: CPVE in Early Childhood Development (UK), Associates in Early Childhood Education, Bachelors in Psychology (minor in Entrepreneurship), and Master’s in Business Administration.
